Freethinker Co.Hey there – I’m Leah, the Founder and Director of Freethinker Co.

My favourite joy in the world is to have a conversation. Sometimes they’re light, filled with synchronicities and comical. Other times, they’re challenging, confronting and laced with pain.

Fuelled by curiosity, I tend to ask a flurry of questions and soon enough, will be knee deep in conversation with someone I’ve just met or known for some time. Parts of their life, who they care most about, their doubts and concerns, and their most vivid of dreams are soon revealed. Sometimes the most intricate of details will have me so fascinated, the conversation will detour down a path I could never have envisioned. I use to wonder why I was the one asking all the questions, but now I know…

It’s because I’m a conversation starter.

On the hunt for stories with meaning, I scour the globe in search on them. I’m infatuated with words and can decipher between the noise and the gold in our heavily flooded online world and believe (without a question of a doubt) that when we communicate ‘consciously,’ we can create widespread change – the positive, equitable and sustainable kind.

Because ultimately, I believe we all just want to be heard.

Stories are the backbone of our communities. They are what keep us connected and communing, and I think the more we celebrate our difference and unite in our sameness, the better the world is.

The better we are.

Who am I?

I’m a storyteller, activist, editor, international development worker and a communications consultant all rolled into one (now try and say that fast!)

The personal bits: I’m also a yoga teacher who feels most connected and herself with her feet in the sand starring up at the moon or when playing with her dog. I live at North Avoca on Australia’s Central Coast of NSW and I have been traveling this grand and marvellous world of ours since before I could crawl (so thankful for my adventurous parents!) I get lost in new cultures, places and people, and learn from their values and ways of life. I am collecting along the way the bits that resonate with me most to add to the life I want to live and lead.

I believe if we connect – human to human – factions, frictions and silos dissolve.

I believe stories strengthen this connection and bridge worlds between ‘us’ and ‘them’; between you and I.

I believe stories remind us of our humanness and allow us to see that we are all entitled to the same rights and joys.

I hope you agree.
